Judy Smith Printmaker
I've always been passionate about creating, and printmaking has become my true artistic love. It excites my imagination and offers endless possibilities for diverse imagery.
My goal is to create original and fascinating works that resonate with you on a personal level. What I love about printmaking is the ability to infuse each piece with its own unique mood through the use of different colour treatments. Despite using the same plate, every print emerges as a distinct creation.
Nature is my biggest inspiration, and I aim to capture a tranquillity and calm in my work. The Australian landscape, with its unique features and colours, shape my creations, especially trees layered over shifting tones of time and weather.

My first memories of drawing and painting were sitting on the floor of my grandfather’s workroom, when I was a young child. This first introduction to art has been a lifelong passion.
I am a member of Print Circle - a group of women printmakers first established in 1970 - and the Miniature Society of NSW. I regularly exhibit with both of these groups.
Of all the arts, printmaking is the one that excites and inspires me to continue creating. I think it’s the most fun you can have standing up!
